Those experts included Kahrs sales manager Harvey Booth, who wrote in an article for Contract Flooring Journal that “During difficult times, it is often assumed that cheaper products will flood the market, leaving little room for premium brands.” Instead, the opposite has happened; with consumers having grown wise enough to wish to pay more now for a more quality product that will prove more durable and better value in the long term, Booth is happy to have to be able to eat his own words. “The new breed of value-orientated, savvy consumers are looking to invest in quality products that offer longevity, with the added value of a reputable retailer chain,” he says happily.
The perhaps surprising development has proven to be good news for all concerned, with retailers, consumers, and everyone in the flooring industry thus benefiting from the failure of the current economic woes to make a significant dent in the industry and reduce the overall quality of its products.
