It’s official – grey flooring is “in.” According to several well-known designers and flooring exhibitors, the style is the season’s hit. While the grey flooring style appears at first glance to be not too dissimilar to other forms of “neutral” colored flooring styles that have already been in favor for the last few years, the metallic shade of the new grey flooring style appears to be giving it more than just a hint of a competitive edge.
“Grey is the new floor color,” claims renowned designer Nicky Haslam. “We are doing silver metal bonded into the wood grain and metals that look like rippling water.” Haslam made the comments in an interview with the London Evening Standard. Still, it appears the designer is not strictly speaking out of turn, given the success of grey flooring at the recent DOMOTEX exhibition, which was staged just last month. The exhibition is famous for being on the ball when it comes to the latest trends and innovations in the flooring industry, and grey, along with the always popular white and blue, was the color that was the belle of the ball at the event. The head of architectural design at Bill Amberg, Ned Ingham, has added that grey flooring is becoming popular in kitchens and other areas of the home.
A wood floor restoration with grey flooring is not the only form in which grey flooring is becoming increasingly popular either, with reports that the popularity of grey vinyl flooring and sales of grey or silver carpeting is also on the rise.
