Mapei’s Significant Move: Becoming a Member of the UK Green Building Council
Mapei has joined the United Kingdom Green Building Council. The company, responsible for the production of adhesives and chemicals used by the construction industry and is one of the largest such companies in the world, has joined the Council as part of a series of moves it has recently made to become more environmentally friendly. The United Kingdom Green Building Council is eager to try and change the building industry into one that provides the amount of care and support that is currently expected by consumers but which has less of a negative impact on the world’s natural environment. Given Mapei’s status, their moves to join forces with the Council should significantly impact the rest of the industry. The flooring industry will likewise be excited by the move, primarily because of the certification that Mapei has already received for several of its products due to their low Volatile Organic Compounds levels, an issue that the flooring industry has been keen to address for some time. Those products are just a sample of no less than 150 Mapei products noted as sustainable by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Sustainability, high quality, and value are all increasingly important to consumers.
