What was the job?
We took a trip to Harrow to work on some floors which had become worn and damaged after years without proper attention.
Challenges
Gaps had developed between boards and these needed to be fixed before the assigned task could begin. If left, the uneven surface could result in more gaps and damage which would cost the homeowners more.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
We replaced any boards which were too damaged to sand and closed gaps between remaining boards. For some, it was a simple matter of nailing them down more securely.
With a smooth working area, we were free to begin the dust free sanding process. A cosmetic gap fill was used for the minor, natural breaks between boards. This then complemented the lacquer which was applied afterwards.
During the floor restoration
The results
There is no major change in the floor’s appearance apart from the quality of the wood. With no visible signs of wear and tear, it is as if there has been a new floor fitted.
With a maintenance routine, the quality should remain for years to come.
