Unanticipated Turn of Events: The Departure of Managing Director as Sales Take a Dip in Flooring Industry

Carpetright, a retailer of carpeting and flooring, including wood flooring that will stand for years without needing wood floor repair, has announced the departure of its current Managing Director in the wake of falling sales. Christian Sollese, the Managing Director for the United Kingdom and Ireland sector of the retail giant, is leaving after a boardroom shuffle following an almost 6.5% fall in sales in just less than a three-month period prior to the middle of April. With three profit warnings also having been issued by the company so far this year, the decision was made that it was time for Sollese to move on after 16 years working for Carpetright. Flooring Firm: In the meantime, a new appointment to the company’s top brass has been announced in the form of Andrew Corden, who will take on the role as Operations Director – Europe. As the title suggests, it will be Corden’s responsibility to look after all of the company’s interests in the European market, including such countries as Belgium, the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland. Corden has been a member of the Carpetright family for 16 years since 1995, and has already been responsible for much of the European sector for the last three years since 2008. “I would like to thank Christian for the contribution he has made to the company over the past sixteen years and wish him well for the future” says Group Chairman and company CEO Lord Harris of Peckham.
