Chelsea is known for its expensive housing and luxury properties.
A home in the area had damaged wood floors which needed to be repaired, polished and finished.
Challenges
Because of some damage and holes in the floor, we needed to supply some new floorboards before starting on the rest of the wood.
Plug sockets in the home were quite close to the floor so we had to take extra care when sanding around those areas.
Areas:
Hall- 1.8 m2
Lounge- 33.1 m2
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
After moving the sofa for full floor access, we were able to fit six linear metres of oak floorboards by the lounge radiator. When all boards were properly secured and gaps were closed with glue, we were free to begin sanding.
The work was completed with four coats of clear lacquer to ensure the finish will last for years.
During the floor restoration
The results
Without gaps and holes, the floor fits right into its upmarket neighbourhood. The floor had been degardaded by some DIY work but now the rooms are complete and look much tip top.
As long as the owner cleans and polishes the floor from time to time, the high quality finish should remain for years.
