Abbot's Hospital. "George Abobot, born in Guildford, became Archbishop of Canterbury, and founded this almshouse in 1619. For around 400 years it has given homes to local residents aged over 60 and of modest means."

What was the job?

The floors in a Guildford property were in need of sanding and staining.

Challenges

There were a few lighter planks which meant we could not treat the entire floor in the same way.

The floor was not entirely level so we also had to carry out basic repair work.

How the floor looked before we started work

What we did

The floor was sanded using out three stage process with dust free machines and the gaps filled wth resin.

Because some boards were lighter than others, we used two coats of stain on them to make the finish nice and uniform.

We buffed and vacuumed the floors and then applied four coats of clear lacquer to create a shine.

The results

The floors and house look a lot more inviting and clean. Not being treated meant the floors had accumulated grime but now they are looking great and protected from further damage.
