What was the job?
We travelled to Kensington to sand the wood floors and stairs of a residential property.
Challenges
While the floor had been quite well maintained we still had to check for loose boards. There were also a few steps in addition to the staircase, which would be less of a stable surface area to work on.
Gaps between boards had to be fixed to prevent debris falling between the wood.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
We checked the floor for loose or damaged boards and closed significant gaps that could not be filled with resin. After this was completed, we began the three stage sanding process.
When the floors had been sanded, buffed and vacuumed, we applied clear lacquer.
During the floor restoration
The results
Now the wood has been treated, it appears as though a new floor has been fitted. The clear signs of wear have been removed and the gaps are gone.
Now that the stairs are smoother, they are also safer.
With protection from the lacquer and a routine of floor care, the wood should not sanding again for years.
