Floor Sanding Blogs
What was the job?
We journeyed to Greenwich Dance in the Borough Hall to sand one of the halls in the building.
Challenges
The area we were working on was large and would be a time consuming job. We also had to be sure the floor was secure so it would be safe for performers and audiences.
Areas:
Minor hall- 182 m2 (maple wood strip- 55-60 mm)
Time taken:
7 days
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
We checked the floor for any loose boards which may have needed to be refitted or replaced so our work would be efficient and effective. We supplied one linear metre of maple strip and then began sanding.
After buffing and vacuuming, we concluded the job by adding one coat of base prime then four layers of lacquer.
The results
The floor is now more durable and fit for purpose. If the floor is well maintained, the life of the wood should have been extended by several years. Ensuring all boards are secure means the whole surface is stronger.
