Hello, flooring fans! Welcome back to the Daily Grind & Season’s Greetings! This December we’ve got a whole heap of interesting flooring nuggets to share with you; from the latest hardwood trends for 2015, to tips for contractors in need of a little business perspective. Read on to find out all about the great work done by the Construction Youth Trust, plus get ready to drool over a to die for wooden interior…

Keen to get the run on new flooring styles for 2023? With the new year just around the corner, the excellent Lumber Liquidators have just published their picks on the National Hardware Show‘s Industry Edge blog. Next year look out for:
• Grey tones
Perfect for neutral and minimal spaces, grey coloured hardwoods are incredibly chic at the moment.
• Matte finishes
Say goodbye to glossy flooring. Matte finishes mean laid back glamour and beautiful materials which don’t take over your whole interior.
• Exotic woods
Something a little unusual is perfect for eclectic spaces. We love the look of handscraped bamboo.
Contractors: Do You Work In Your Business or On Your Business?

At Floor Sanding Expert we work with clients from every part on the spectrum; from homeowners and contractors, to larger construction businesses. That’s why, when we came across this neat little post from Marvin Carolina Jr. of JE Dunn Construction, we wanted to share it with the many contractors and small business owners we work alongside.
In a short, snappy post, Marvin helps you to identify where you’re expending most of your energy in your business and gives some gently stern words of advice: stop working in your business and start working on your business. We know that for many of us working in a trade, it’s the practicality which first interested us but, at a certain point, stepping away from the site and getting down to business in your back office is crucial.
Christmas Appeal: Support the Construction Youth Trust
As it’s now the season of goodwill, we thought we’d take a few minutes to introduce you to a great cause that is well worth supporting this Christmas.
The Construction Youth Trust helps people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK learn a trade and embark on a successful career. What could be more worthwhile or sustainable than helping others to support themselves? You can learn more on their inspiring website and donate through their Just Giving page. Thank you.
Wooden Wonderland at De La Espada

Every now and again we come across an interior we’d absolutely love to have helped create. This gorgeous space featured on De La Espada is just such a design. The beautiful treatment of the matte wood floor brings out its natural beauty and a sort of rugged softness which works wonderfully with Matthew Hilton’s Danish oiled walnut chairs. Wonderful wood at its very best.
Which hardwood look is your preference 2015? Are you a small business owner who spends more time working in the business than on the business? Do you know of any other great construction charities we should profile? Let us know all about it below!
