What was the job?
Belgravia is an area of London noted for its expensive residential properties. For one of the homes, a full renovation project was underway. This required the floors to be repaired and restored to former glory.Challenges
The kitchen floor in particular was in a terrible state of disrepair but after work the property’s resale value was potentially very high. This meant our work had to be the absolute best standard. It was not just the floors that needed work. As the walls were crumbling, we had to be more careful not to damage them further while working. The wall by the small steps was particularly bad, with holes next to the areas we would be working on. Areas: Living room (upper floor): 40.00 m2 – Walnut Floorboards Dining room (ground floor): 21.42 m2 Kitchen (ground floor): 16.74 m2 Family room (ground floor): 20.00 m2 Steps: 4 No. Treads & Risers (2 to be build and treated + 2 to be treated)How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
Much of the floor needed to be repaired before sanding began. Several areas required us to fit new floorboards and secure the few that were loose. The new floorboards were provided by the customer. We built two risers and one step in the kitchen, matching the wood already in place. We were careful not to cause further damage to the crumbling walls around the work space. When all the floors were even, we sanded all the rooms the client had requested. As usual with this property, we had to be careful with the machines to avoid causing more damage and cost.During the floor restoration
The results
Our restoration of the floors was a success. We ensured there were no gaps left behind and all holes filled with new, quality boards. The owner was very happy with our work which will contribute significantly to the overal look of the property. After we finished the job
