The floor had become discoloured and needed to be restored to former glory.
Challenges
Not only was the floor patchy, there were also warped areas which required extra sanding. As we were working in a family home, there were obstacles to account for and avoid damaging.
Areas:
Entrance hallway- 10.5 m2
Kitchen- 3.3 m2
Bathroom- 3.6 m2
Lounge- 25.2 m2
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
With a clear working area, we ensured all blocks were secure before beginning the sanding process. Our machines are dust free so we did not need to worry too much about polluting the home.
After any excess was buffed and vacuumed away, we applied a layer of light oak before sealing the colour with four coats of clear lacquer.
During the floor restoration
The results
The floor looks a lot newer and the boards are even. With a maintenance routine, the lifespan of the parquet blocks should be considerably extended. The lacquer should leave them more resilient to the standard scratches expected from day-to-day movement around the home.
