What was the job?
The Great Fosters Hotel in Eggham, Surrey, is a prestigious hotel with a very good reputation for quality. The floors in some rooms needed sanding because of scuffs and scratches that have accumulated over time. Our job was to return them to a fantastic natural finish.Challenges
The Painted Hall was a large working area and we had a limited length of time to get the job done in, so that we didn’t disrupt the running of the hotel. And of course the lobby is a busy area so we had to work as fast as possible there too. Areas: Lobby: 27.43 m2 Painted Hall: 128.86 m2Time taken: 4 days
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
The work itself was fairly simple. There were no special requirements or extensive damage that would complicate sanding but a lot of wear and tear had to be dealt with. We added five layers of lacquer to the floor, more than usual to add shine and preserve the quality of the wood for longer in the busy environment.During the floor restoration
The results
Without scuffs and scrapes, the floor looks far better and is yet again just what is needed for a respected hotel. There were areas which had more visible damage than others but everything was brought back to a quality finish and you’d never know the floors were damaged. After we finished the job
