What was the job?
A client in Southwark requested sanding work for their property in Bankside Lofts.
Several rooms and a staircase needed our services due to being worn by every day life.
Challenges
There was a lot of work to do as the customer wanted all the floors to be restored to as close to their original quality as possible.
Sanding stairs always presents a challenge, but that particular set did not have risers and the gaps presented a potential hazard.
There was quite a lot of furniture to move in order to provide full access to the entire floor. The wood had been cared for so there were no repairs needed and the sanding work was routine.
With the stairs, we were careful not to hit the wall and keep the machines on the treads.
After sanding, buffing and vacuuming the floor, we applied two layers of Osmo Polyx-Raw oil.
During the floor restoration
The results
We did not put furniture back in place, as the original move was to open up the work space. The oil we added will prevent scratches and gouges when things are moved around in the property. If the owner continues with a steady routine of maintenance and care, the quality of the wood should remain for years.
The stairs look almost like new, with signs of wear now gone.
