What was the job?
Reading School is a day and boarding grammar school in Berkshire. Due to the standard wear and tear caused by teenage boys, the floors needed standard sanding work to improve the state of the wood.Challenges
As it was a boarding school we had to work around the school timetables, so as not to disrupt everyday school life. Because each room serves a purpose, there was furniture and other obstructions to move. The pool table in one room was one example. The fireplaces in rooms were in the way because we had to work close to them without causing any damage. How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
Obstructions such as the pool table were removed so work could be completed quicker, but still to a high quality. In the kitchen area, we covered appliances to prevent any dust getting into them. We were careful around the fireplaces and did not accidentally stray onto the tiled area. The lacquer we used after finishing the work is designed to cope with heavy foot traffic.During the floor restoration
The results
The floors sanding was successful. The more worn areas are no longer noticeable, completely blending in after a uniform job. Now the wood floors are suitable for classes and activities. After we finished the job
