What was the job?
Potters Bar is a town in the county of Hertfordshire and we travelled up there for a job recently.
A home in the area needed standard maintenance and repair work for its wood floors.
Challenges
Some of the floorboards were damaged and needed replacing in order to ensure a high standard of work.
Though there were no major obstacles, the working areas were quite large.
Areas:
Hallway- 16 m2
Dining room- 21.4 m2
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
Prior to sanding, we replaced some of the pine floorboards. Some boards were of serviceable quality, but were loose. We ensured every board was secure before beginning the sanding process and filling gaps with a slivers and resin mix.
At the owner’s request, we added a coat of dark rich mahogany stain. This was the followed by four coats of lacquer.
The results
With all damaged boards removed, the floor is level and more presentable. The dark colour makes the floor appear new.
