What was the job?

We travelled to a home in Guildford to restore the wood floors. The boards were splashed with paint and needed some attention.

Challenges

The paint slightly obscured the initial view of the whole floor so we could not properly estimate the extent of the job until further inspection. Gaps had formed between boards and they needed to be fixed before the main task could start.

What we did 

We checked all the floorboards to see if any needed to be nailed down. When we were sure the floor was as smooth as it could be, we began sanding. We then used a cosmetic gap fill, made with slivers and resin, which we added lacquer and stain to.

The results

All the floors are smooth and the lacquer will help preserve the quality of our work. With regular care, the floors should not need any sanding work for years.
