What was the job?
Knebworth is a village in the county of Hertfordshire.
The owner of a property in the area wanted their parquet floors sanded and a new stain applied.
Challenges
The customer was not sure which colour stain they wanted so we had to create a light area so the tones would be clear.
Blocks in a doorway needed to be re-fitted.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
The floor had been reasonably well looked after, though we did re-fit a couple of blocks in a doorway. After this, there were no major obstacles when sanding,
We added samples of stain to a section of the floor so the customer could choose their favourite before we applied Jacobean stain on the whole surface.
During the floor restoration
The results
The chosen stain is not dissimilar to the previous colour, but looks like new and shows the natural pattern within the parquet blocks.
Lacquer on the floor will protect the blocks against footfall and preserve the colour.
