Sanding wood floors Project in London Youth Centre | Mr Sander®

What was the job?
London Youth is an organisation helping young people from all backgrounds across the city.
The office on Pitfield Street, Shoreditch, required sanded floors after they had been worn and scratched by foot traffic and office furniture. There were also discoloured areas which we were asked to remove.
Challenges
As the office was in use, there were large obstacles inhibiting full access to the floor. Furniture had to be moved for us to assess damage, and some things were too large to be relocated. Anything that we could not move was covered.
Gaps had developed between the parquet blocks and some areas were loose.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
In order to fix the gaps, some blocks had to be re-fitted. Some gaps were smaller and could be filled with a resin/ wood slivers mixture.
We ensured the floor was as level as possible before we began sanding to be sure we would get the best results from our work.
After sanding, and when all debris was cleared from the area, we applied lacquer.
During the floor restoration
The results
Our parquet restoration means the floor is now smooth and presentable, with dark stains and patches now longer visible. Without gaps, the floor is less vulnerable to further damage and chairs will roll across the surface with more ease.
Lacquer and a maintenance routine should combine to preserve the lifespan of the floor.
