What was the job?
Royal Holloway is a leading university in the city of London where we were invited to renovate their wood floors.
The floor in the university’s Horton building had become faded and discoloured.
The job was to restore parquet floor to its former glory. This meant sanding and treating the parquet floor, which is different to standard wooden floorboards.
Challenges
Work in the university could not disrupt studies or work by staff in the building. This meant not straying from the allotted time frame.
Parquet flooring requires expertise to be treated properly.
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
We restored the wood floor which had been worn down over time and through natural wear and tear.
There was significant discolouration which we treated and removed.
Lacquer was also applied to return the floor to a quality finish.
During the floor restoration
The results
The restoration work and clear lacquer made the floor look like new.
Because it has been treated, the floor will last for many years to come.
The room as a whole looks more inviting and suitable for purpose.
