Floor Sanding Blogs
Entrance hall – 15.4 m2
Garden room – 35.4 m2
Time taken –
3 daysThe centre has an important job to do helping children with mental health problems.
We therefore had to work quickly and efficiently so as not to take up too much of their time and space. Also the building’s corridors have curved walls which made sanding and restoration a little more difficult.

During work we took every precaution to prevent the spread of dust while sanding the floors. Resin was also used to stop sawdust falling in between gaps in the floorboards.
Loose floorboards had to be nailed down and minor repairs done to the wood. The floors were then buffed and vacuumed to ensure any residual dust was removed.
Three layers of lacquer were applied to maintain the shine provided by the work.

The building was immediately more inviting and the floors were given a new lease of life.
The floors in the Anna Freud Centre are now more durable, meaning they can cope with footfall from families and workers, without degrading for many years.
