Floor Sanding Blogs
To be honest we didn’t work at the castle but we did venture to the Berkshire town of Windsor to restore the wood floors in a lovely residential property.
Large gaps had formed between some of the boards and there were also holes in places which required our attention.
There were exposed wires in places where electrical sockets had not yet been fitted, which could have posed a potential risk.
Areas:
Room 1- 13.3 m2
Room 2- 13.3 m2
Room 3- 16.9 m2
Time taken:
2 days
Before sanding could begin, we had to repair the floor in order to protect the machines and ensure a high quality job. When floorboards had been replaced or just refitted, we were able to start the three step process.
With the floor sanded, we added a cosmetic gap fill made of resin and wood slivers. This also made it easier to apply light stain and four coats of lacquer to the pine surface.
Without gaps and holes, the floor is less of a trip hazard and the surface is stronger. It will be easier for the homeowner to maintain and means the room is a lot more presentable to guests.
The lacquer will preserve the colour and add resistance to scuffs.
We provide virtually dust-free sanding with our continuous belt machinery with mobile extraction units, giving you a safer environment for your family.
This organic finish not only adds beauty to your home but also has exceptional water-repellent characteristics, making it easier to clean and maintain.
This natural floor finish offers the softest and most mellow appearance – and leaves your floor able to breath.
Using soft buffing machines (and hand-polishing where required) will bring a wonderful sheen to your newly-finished floor.
