What was the job?
St Mary’s RC Primary School is a Catholic school in Kilburn, London.
Two of the school halls needed
sanding for their parquet floors after being worn and scratched by heavy foot traffic.
Challenges
The working areas were quite large which meant, even without obstructions, the job would be time consuming. We also had to wait until there were no classes before we were able to start sanding.
Areas:
Infant school hall- 91.9 m2
Junior school hall- 143.1 m2
How the floor looked before we started work
What we did
We ensured there were no loose blocks or significant damages before beginning work. As there were no obstacles such as furniture, pillars or curved walls, the job was straight-forward.
We sanded the surfaces using dust free machines and the buffed and vacuumed any excess that may have been left behind. Both surfaces were treated with two coats of base prime and then three coats of clear heavy duty lacquer.
During the floor restoration
The results
The heavy duty lacquer prepared the floors for another school year with a lot of activity.
With steady maintenance, the floors should remain at such a high quality. Some minor damages are inevitable but they do not have to compromise the overall finish.
With over 30 years of experience and 25,000+ floors restored, the Mr Sander® team shares expert tips on wooden floor care, sanding, and restoration. Trusted across the UK, we help homeowners and businesses bring lasting beauty, durability, and warmth to every wooden surface we touch.
