Shoreditch is a district within the London borough of Hackney, and we headed over to help with some decking.
The decking of a property needed sanding to ensure it would be resistant to all weather conditions.
Challenges
Working outside presents issues as we are reliant on the weather allowing for sanding to continue.
Debris from the garden can often get stuck in the channels of decking and we have to work on a clear surface.
Areas:
Decking- 55.3 m2
Blinds- 11 No. x 2.3 m2 + 9 No. x 3.3 m2
Hot tub + 2 steps
Decking box- 1
Time taken:
5 days
How the decking looked before we started work
What we did
We were sure to clear the area from bric-a-brac such as stones and leaves, as they could damage the machines.
The decking had been well-maintained and there were repairs required before we began sanding. After buffing the surface and vacuuming debris, we added three coats of Osmo decking oil.
The results
The new brown colour appears more natural and compliments the surroundings more than the previous greying tone.
With the oil, the wood is now more resistant to weather such as rain and snow.
