Paddington is an area of London situated within Westminster.
A home had decking which had become weather-worn over time so needed some work to bring back a great finish on a useful outdoor space.
Challenges
Sanding outdoors always comes with weather risks, especially in England. While rain is the most obvious issue, wind can also blow things from the garden into the working area and this can be a problem if not spotted and dealt with.
Areas:Front decking – 8.6m2
Back decking – 16.1m2 & 2 steps
Time taken: 1 day
How the decking looked before we started work
What we did:
The job itself was relatively straight forward. We cleared debris and stones from the wood before beginning the sanding process. The gaps are there by design so there was no need for filler, as would be the case with a normal indoor wood floor.
After a buff and vacuum, we added three coats of decking oil.
During the decking restoration
The results
The chosen shade is considerably darker than the colour before we began work. Without grimy patches it looks cleaner and the wood will last longer. The oil will act as a seal against rain and other weather conditions. And the client was very happy with the work we did!
